I am a Midwife, Lactation Consultant, a wife, and the mother of three amazing and inspiring grown daughters.
I am passionate about helping you have the best experience you can in the postnatal period, as well as assist you to have the best breastfeeding experience for you.
There is no greater joy than to support families as they welcome a new baby. One of the aims I have in setting up the business Call Your Midwife is to help you meet your postnatal and feeding goals.
I am an Endorsed Midwife, which means there will be a Medicare rebate for some of my midwifery services.
As a Lactation Consultant I am excited to be able to assist you on your journey to meet your feeding goals.
I am currently living in the stunning Meander Valley and enjoying the amazing countryside we are blessed with here.
I have worked as a midwife in hospital across a number of areas including working in continuity of care roles. I have worked in the community as a private midwife, I have worked in midwifery education. I currently teach the course “Prescribing for Midwives” at Griffith University which is a prerequisite for becoming a private midwife in Australia.
I love to research, and I always aim keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care. I have to admit that I spend more than my annual allocated book allowance on books related to maternity and newborn care! I am prepared to confess here that my library is just a bit bigger than the number of bookcase shelves I have. In the interests of covertly increasing my collection I did actually find a way to camouflage one of my bookcases as a decorative piece of furniture though! I made a home visit to a new mother one day and was inspired by her colour coded bookcase.
When I returned home that day, I went to work on decorating my bookcase accordingly!
Another love is my pet dog, a Shih Tzu called Wilberforce. He was named after the great William Wilberforce who was largely responsible for campaigning to cease the slave trade in England over many years. Wilberforce reminds us every day that we need to be persistent to achieve our goals in life! We also need to keep pushing to make sure that the maternity care environment is optimal so that women get to make the decisions that are right for them in the childbearing year.
My husband is a photographer, so I get to explore beautiful places while he takes photos. I am very blessed to have a reason to travel the countryside to enjoy all the beauty that nature has to share. My love of driving is also fulfilled in the joy of being able journey to visit new families.
